In a September 11 evening update Enbridge said mechanical construction of the Line 5 temporary bypass is finished and that a pressure test ran that day before line fill under a PHMSA-approved plan. The company still targeted return to service September 12. As of Saturday morning there is no confirmation the line is flowing.
On September 11 Hydro One Networks and Hydro One Sault Ste. Marie filed a joint leave-to-construct application for a new 230-kilovolt line from Mississagi Transformer Station near Wharncliffe to Third Line TS in Sault Ste. Marie. In-service is targeted for 2029.
Reuters reported September 9 that Chinese antitrust clearance remains the last major outstanding approval for the Anglo American and Teck merger. Teck's September 1 note still pointed to completion eleven trading days after remaining conditions clear, inside a September 2026 to March 2027 window.
On July 23 Ovintiv declared a quarterly dividend of US$0.30 per share payable September 29 to shareholders of record September 15. Full-year 2026 production guidance is 630,000 to 645,000 boe per day on unchanged capital of US$2.25 billion to US$2.35 billion.
Pembina is proceeding with the Heartland Extraction Plant, a roughly $570 million project with a late-2029 in-service target. A long-term agreement supplies Dow with ethane from the plant beginning in late 2029, scaling to 22,500 barrels per day by the end of 2030.
On July 31 Imperial reported second-quarter net income of $2.19 billion and said its heaviest planned turnaround quarter is complete. The company plans to accelerate its normal course issuer bid and finish the remaining allowable purchases before year end. Refinery throughput guidance was cut.
