On September 9 ministers LeBlanc, Hodgson, and Dabrusin announced amendments to the Physical Activities Regulations. In situ oil sands plants and fossil-fired generators leave the Impact Assessment Act list. Broader legislation is promised this fall.

Cedar's Certificate Now Allows 3.75 Million Tonnes. Kitimat's Second Plant Is Still a 2028 Story

On July 10 the B.C. Environmental Assessment Office amended Cedar LNG's certificate to 500 MMcf per day of liquefaction, about 3.75 million tonnes a year, up from 3.0. Pembina and the Haisla Nation still target in-service in late 2028.

Hodgson and Shmyhal Signed in Calgary. Cameco's Ukraine Book Runs Through 2035

On September 10 Energy Minister Tim Hodgson and Ukraine's Denys Shmyhal signed a joint energy statement in Calgary. Canada added $10 million to the Energy Support Fund, up to $757 million of EBRD gas-purchase guarantees, and restated the Energoatom-Cameco uranium deal through 2035.

The September 9 Project List amendments remove fossil fuel-fired generating facilities from Impact Assessment Act designation. Capital Power's 250 MW Meta contract in Sturgeon County is still aimed at the back half of 2028, and Alberta has kept large AI loads off the shared grid until then.

On September 11 Advantage completed the sale of its Wembley area assets for $316 million in gross cash proceeds, ahead of the August 26 timeline. Proceeds went to reduce bank debt. The company said it has resumed significant share repurchases.

Enbridge Agreed to Buy Tallgrass Crude for $2.55 Billion. Pony Express Is the Crown Jewel

On September 9 Enbridge announced a definitive agreement to acquire Tallgrass Energy's crude oil business for US$2.55 billion cash. Assets include 75 percent of the Pony Express pipeline, Rockies storage, and marketing arm Stanchion Energy. Close is expected later in 2026.

Enbridge's September 10 Line 5 Update: Restart Target Is Tomorrow. DNR Permitting Continues

In a September 10 update Enbridge said parallel work continues on site remediation and the temporary bypass near Saxon, Wisconsin. Water and air monitoring show no impacts. Line 5 remains shut with a September 12 return-to-service goal.

Canadian Natural's Dividend Record Date Is Today. Q2 Cash Flow Already Filed

CNQ declared on August 5 a quarterly dividend of $0.625 per share payable October 2 to shareholders of record at the close today, September 11. Second-quarter production averaged a record 1,677,000 boe per day with $6.9 billion of adjusted funds flow.

Suncor said August 6 that Peter Zebedee will become President and Chief Financial Officer on September 14 with oversight of all non-operating functions. He is slated to become President and CEO in April 2027 when Rich Kruger moves to Executive Vice Chair.

Keyera revised September 3 its 2026 Marketing margin guidance to $320 million to $350 million, citing Line 5 and AEF. Enbridge's September 10 update kept a September 12 restart target. Keyera's dividend record date is Monday September 15.
