Restart day is here. The company has not posted a flowing line
Enbridge Inc. (TSX: ENB, NYSE: ENB) posted a September 11 Line 5 update at 5:48 p.m. Central Time. Crews finished mechanical construction of the temporary bypass near Saxon, Wisconsin. Enbridge said the bypass pipe would be pressure-tested that day at above normal operating conditions before line-fill activities, following a plan approved by the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration.
The company still said work remained on schedule to bring Line 5 back into service by September 12. As of Saturday morning Enbridge has not posted a new note confirming that product is moving. Line 5 has been isolated since August 25, when an unoccupied subcontractor flatbed truck rolled into an excavation at a valve project and struck the pipe. The release was natural gas liquids, mainly propane and butane. No injuries were reported.
Enbridge said September 11 it continues to work with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources on permitting and separately on environmental conditions at the incident site. The DNR's September 9 letters asked the company to halt bypass construction and focus on the release. Enbridge's latest company note does not say it stopped the bypass. Community air monitoring continues to show safe air quality outside the evacuation zone, Enbridge said. Surface water and a nearby residential well have shown no impacts.
Keyera has estimated a $30 million reduction to 2026 Marketing segment realized margin from the outage. That number still hinges on whether service actually resumes today.
