NexGen hosted its 2026 Investor Day on September 1 with a pre-recorded construction plan for Rook I. Management targeted first ore in the third quarter of 2030, freeze plants in Q1 2027, and main shaft sinking in 2028. The project received final federal approval in March.

NexGen Broke Ground at Rook I. The Operating Licence Is Still Ahead

NexGen held a Rook I groundbreaking on August 13 in the southern Athabasca Basin. The company puts construction at $2.2 billion over four years. The CNSC already licensed site prep and construction. An operating licence is a later file.
