This is a construction schedule, not a spot uranium trade
NexGen Energy Ltd. (TSX: NXE, NYSE: NXE) published its 2026 Investor Day on September 1. The pre-recorded session featured senior leadership and the technical team on the construction plan for the 100 percent-owned Rook I project in Saskatchewan's Athabasca Basin.
NexGen said Rook I is under construction after final federal approval in March 2026. The investor-day timeline includes activating freeze plants in the first quarter of 2027, pre-sinking production and exhaust shafts from mid-2027, main shaft sinking in 2028, and first ore targeted in the third quarter of 2030. Management discussed project economics using uranium price scenarios; those are model outputs, not contracted sales for the full life of mine.
NexGen has made its final investment decision and said official construction began in summer 2026 on a four-year build from commencement.
Neutral read
NXE is on the listed uranium list. Banks were skipped. Q3 2030 first ore and a 2027 freeze-plant start are the facts. Write this as a build timeline, not as 2026 production. Watch shaft-sinking progress, procurement awards, and whether long-term contract pricing in Cameco's market continues to support developer economics.
