Commercial operations are on. The solar plant is not
Northland Power Inc. (TSX: NPI) said today that its Jurassic Battery Energy Storage System in Cypress County, Alberta, has reached commercial operations. The GlobeNewswire note is time-stamped Sept. 29 at 7:00 a.m. ET. The site is 80 megawatts and 160 megawatt-hours. Northland called it Alberta's largest battery storage facility. It is the company's second storage project.
The company said the work came in ahead of the late-2026 plan and under budget, with zero lost-time incidents across nearly 75,000 hours. A 15-year offtake covers 100 percent of capacity. Christine Healy said that is contracted cash flow and project delivery. It is not a new offtake signed today, and it is not an AESO capacity-market award.
Jurassic Solar is a separate 220-megawatt array on the same Jenner-area file. That array is still later. This note is batteries on the grid. It is not first electrons from the solar plant, not Baltic Power COD, and not a TransAlta or Capital Power print.
