Denison Sold Uranium to Pay for Phoenix Dirt. The Mine Is Still a Construction Site

On August 12 Denison said Phoenix ISR civil work was more than 20 percent done by the end of July. It sold 750,000 pounds of U3O8 in the second quarter at $122.16 a pound for $91.6 million of proceeds. Concrete for the process plant was aimed at August. That is not first pounds from the wellfield.

They monetized a 2021 pile. They did not pour first product

Denison (TSX: DML, NYSE American: DNN) reported second-quarter 2026 results on August 12. The live file is Phoenix, the in-situ recovery mine at Wheeler River. Site work started in March. By the end of July more than 20 percent of overall site civil work was done. Civil subgrade for the process plant and wellfield was nearly 100 percent. A temporary camp takes the site toward about 400 people. Freeze-wall installation for Phase 1 had started. Concrete for the process plant and main transformer was aimed at August. An airstrip and on-site power distribution are first-year items. Federal construction licence and EA landed in February 2026. That is a build, not a mill.

The cash line is physical uranium, not Phoenix output. In 2021 Denison bought 2.5 million pounds of U3O8 at $36.67 a pound, or US$29.66. In the second quarter it sold 750,000 pounds at $122.16, or US$89.17, for $91.6 million of gross proceeds and a $64.1 million gain versus that old cost. At June 30 it still held about 1.1 million pounds, including 950,000 pounds of investment uranium and 145,926 pounds of McClean Lake concentrate. Another 600,000 pounds are committed for delivery from the third quarter of 2026 through the second quarter of 2027. Of that, 350,000 pounds are priced at an average US$95.17, about US$33.3 million. The other 250,000 pounds still take a market print.

Exploration metres are not Phoenix pounds

First-half exploration ran more than 50,000 metres in 140 holes across 10 properties, about $10 million of spend. Hits were reported at Phoenix North and several partner grounds. Denison has an effective 95 percent of Wheeler River. McClean Lake SABRE restarted in 2025. None of that is Phoenix ISR production.

Neutral read

DML is on the listed uranium list. Banks were skipped. The $91.6 million sale and the 20 percent civil print are the facts. Write Phoenix as a construction schedule, not as 2026 pounds. Watch August concrete, whether the freeze wall actually goes in, and whether the remaining uranium pile is enough if the build slips.
