LNG Canada Picked Técnicas Reunidas for CGL Phase 2 EPCM. Steel Is Still Early 2027

Oil and Gas Journal reported Tuesday that LNG Canada awarded TR Canada E&C the EPCM contract for Coastal GasLink Phase 2 after the Kitimat FID. The work includes five compressor stations on the existing 670-kilometre route. Execution starts early 2027. That is a services award, not pipe in the ground.

The contractor is named. Phase 2 is not flowing

LNG Canada has awarded TR Canada E&C Inc., a division of Spain's Técnicas Reunidas SA, the engineering, procurement, and construction management contract for Phase 2 of Coastal GasLink, Oil & Gas Journal reported October 21. The award follows the joint-venture participants' final investment decision on the Kitimat expansion, which TC Energy and LNG Canada announced in late September.

The EPCM scope covers five additional compressor stations and modifications along the existing 670-kilometre route from Dawson Creek, B.C., to the LNG Canada plant in Kitimat. The project is designed to roughly double the system's 2.1 billion cubic feet per day of capacity. Técnicas Reunidas said execution should run more than four years from an early 2027 start. The contract value is put at more than 200 million euros, about $225 million.

LNG Canada leads construction as Phase 2 execution manager. Coastal GasLink remains owned by the partnership, with TC Energy Corporation (TSX: TRP, NYSE: TRP) as operator and co-owner at 35 percent. KKR and AIMCo hold the other 65 percent equity interest. FN CGL Pipeline LP closed an Indigenous economic interest in TC Energy's limited partner stake in October.

This is an EPCM award. It is not first steel on Phase 2, not a doubled flow day, and not a Phase 2 cargo from the new trains.
