The dividend lands Monday. The waterflood budget is the operating story

Surge Energy (TSX: SGY) confirmed August 17 a cash dividend of $0.043333 per share for August 2026 production. Payment date is September 15 to shareholders of record August 31. The dividend is eligible for Canadian tax purposes.

Surge's July 29 second-quarter update reiterated guidance raised June 1: 2026 exit production of 24,000 boepd versus 23,000 previously, average production of 23,375 boepd, and a $175 million capital budget versus $150 million originally. The incremental $25 million splits $16 million to more drilling in Sparky and southeast Saskatchewan and $9 million to waterflood, lifting 2026 waterflood capital to $21 million from $12 million.

Surge said it returns about $51.5 million annually through a $0.52 per share base dividend paid monthly. Management continues to prioritize debt reduction and NCIB repurchases with excess free cash flow.

Neutral read

SGY is on the listed producer list. Banks were skipped. A September 15 pay date and 24,000 boepd exit guidance are the facts. Write the dividend as monthly routine; write waterflood as the second-half setup. Watch whether Provost injectors and the Hope Valley OHML pilot deliver the uplift management is funding.
