Gibson Energy Inc. (TSX: GEI) announced September 16 that the Toronto Stock Exchange accepted its notice to renew a normal-course issuer bid. From today, September 18, through as late as September 17, 2027, Gibson may purchase and cancel up to 7,251,988 common shares. That is 5 percent of the public float as of September 4, when 172,561,791 shares were issued and outstanding.
Daily buys are capped at 202,097 shares, 25 percent of average daily volume of 808,390 shares on the TSX in the six months ended August 31. Purchases would be open-market on the TSX or other Canadian platforms, at the market price that day. Gibson said it expects an automatic purchase plan with BMO Nesbitt Burns so the broker can buy in blackout windows under set parameters.
The last bid ran from September 18, 2025 to September 17, 2026 and approved 10,182,288 shares. Gibson said it did not purchase any shares under that program. The company said the actual number bought, if any, will follow its financial principles.
This is a buyback authorization. It is not a guidance raise, not a Hardisty expansion, and not a dividend change. Gibson has not posted a first purchase under the new window.
